Tuzigoot
Tuzigoot is a sister site to Montezuma Castle and shares much of the same history. I had stopped at Tuzigoot after Montezuma so I had arrived at mid-day. It was much less busy than Montezuma but still had plenty of people milling about. This pueblo was built atop a hill and grew to one of the largest villages in the area (Tuzigoot National Monument, 2024). The pueblo itself has 100 rooms built about a thousand years ago. It has a 1/3 mile loop around the pueblo and another 1/2 mile trail taking you to an overlook (Plan Your Visit, 2024). It is a somewhat accessible area given it is on a hill. The area was extremely well maintained with almost no litter. In these photos you can see people in the pueblo overlooking the pueblo layout and looking out into Verde Valley. It is also clear that the site itself is well preserved seemingly with additional mortar added. Vegetation grows in this pueblo like the other ones I had visited.
